God has the perfect plan for this day!

Plans going wrong.

There is so much I want to do and need to do, and I try to plan when I’m going to do them.

Yesterday was an example of how easily plans can go wrong. From the moment I woke up, I was bombarded with phone calls. My prayer time was interrupted, then it was time to leave my house for an appointment.

When I arrived home I did some washing, and a tissue got caught up in the wash.

I became more and more anxious.

I thought about having a swim, but the anxiety had made me really tired. Then we had a storm, so I couldn’t have gone swimming after all.

I had hoped to play my harp today.

Last week I decided that I needed to set aside 2-3 afternoons a week for art, and to play my harp and sing nearly every day. I haven’t done either of these things, for a week.

My plans are futile, for I don’t know what lies ahead.

God does know, and he wants to lead me. He desires full surrender and trust.

Am I in control of my life, or is God in control?

Here’s a prayer of surrender and trust.

Dear Father, in Jesus name, I give my life to you. You can run it much better than I can.

You know everything about me: my plans, my days and my moments, and everything that’s going to happen today.

You know about my appointments. You know what needs doing.

You know when I will see friends and family.

You know when I will do the other things you’ve called me to do.

I plan these things, but so often these plans fall apart. Then I get stressed, and I feel guilty for not having done the things I had planned.

The best days are the ones where I am flowing in you, enjoying each moment, and going easily from one thing to the next, in your strength.

I want to live like that, dear lord.

Words from Jesus:

I want you to live like this, for it’s the only way to truly live.

Worry and anxiety rob you of so much, and it’s not my will that you worry.

My will is for you to live in me, as I live in you. Let me lead you in every detail of your life.

I know everything about you. I know what lies ahead.

I know you. I love you.

O LORD, you have searched me and known me!

You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

you discern my thoughts from afar.

You search out my path and my lying down

and are acquainted with all my ways.

Even before a word is on my tongue,

behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.

You hem me in, behind and before,

and lay your hand upon me.

Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

it is high; I cannot attain it.

Psalm 139:1-6

I am your Shepherd, and if you allow me to, I will always lead you to green pastures.

Rest in me and listen to me, always!
