A word about “words from God”

I’m wary, these days, of calling my “words from God” prophecies, or even to say they are actual words from God.

When I receive words from God, it isn’t an audible voice, but is like my own voice (in my thoughts). I have definitely had words for myself that weren’t of God, as I later discovered. I have also received many words that were accurate.

So many people claim to hear God speaking to them, yet often the words aren’t true.

Words that claim to be from God, and aren’t, will lead people astray. I certainly don’t want to do that!

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared

1 Tim 4:1-2

At the same time, I don’t want to grieve the Holy Spirit, by saying that the words I receive aren’t from God.

I don’t want to misguide you, so please take every “word from God”, every “prophecy”, that I post, and compare them with scripture: test them, and toss them if necessary.

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

1 John 4:1-3

With that said, please test everything: everything you read, see and hear, for deception is increasing rapidly.

Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Do not quench the Spirit.
Do not despise prophecies,
but test everything; hold fast what is good.

Abstain from every form of evil.
Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.
