The Rapture

The rapture, or catching away, is a glorious event that will happen to all true believers in Jesus Christ.

There will be a very loud trumpet blast, graves will open, believers who have died will rise from the dead, and we will all be lifted up into the clouds to meet Jesus. Our bodies will be transformed into perfect, heavenly bodies. Then Jesus will take us all to heaven.

For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thess 4:15-18

This will happen very quickly, in the twinkling of an eye. It will be wonderful!

I’ve written a story about how this may feel, and what could happen when we arrive in heaven.

Jesus is taking his people in the rapture to protect them from the terrible events that will then come upon the world.

He is only going to take true believers.

Many professing Christians will be left behind.

True believers will be watching and waiting for Jesus return, and will be living their lives surrendered to him.

True believers will be ready for Jesus return. They will be close to Jesus, through prayer and repentance of sin.

The rapture can happen at any moment.

The early church were expecting the rapture.

Are you ready?

Am I ready?

We do not want to be left behind!

After the rapture happens, the world will be a terrible place to live. People will experience the worst tribulation possible.

It’s not too late!

If you are a Christian,

but are unsure whether you are ready, then seek Jesus now. Repent of your sins and surrender your life totally to him.

If you are not a Christian,

Do you know that God loves you? He loves you so much that he sent his son, Jesus, who died a very painful death on a cross, as an offering for all our sins, so that we can be forgiven completely? Three days after he died he rose from the dead, and is in heaven!

If you truly accept that he did this for you, here is a prayer you can say:

Dear Jesus, I am a sinner, and I need you. I thank you for going to the cross to die for me, and for rising again.

I am sorry for everything I have ever done wrong, and I ask you to please wash me clean. I ask you to come into my life to be my Lord and saviour, and I surrender to You.

Please fill me with your Holy Spirit and make me whole. Help me to trust you; help me to love you; help me to live for you. Thank you Lord Jesus, Amen

Whenever we do wrong after this, we need to say we’re sorry and ask for his forgiveness. We need to ask Jesus to help us to change.

Talk to him every day, and listen to him, as he wants to talk to you!

Get a bible: I suggest you begin by reading the Gospels and the Psalms. This will help you to get to know God.

Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you.

Jesus doesn’t promise to make life perfect, in fact there may be more hardship and suffering in following him, but he does promise to give us a purpose and a future: a reason to live!

And soon, very soon, you will be meeting Jesus in the clouds!
